CLEANING
STANDARDS FOR AIR CONVEYANCE SYSTEMS
Level
1
Visible contaminant removal removes dirt, dust and debris that
is visible and readily orserved on the interior surfaces of the air
duct system.
Level
2
Stain removal removes all matter described in Level 1, plus all
readily observed stains or discolaration on the interior of the duct
system. Stain removal is indicated where moisture accumulation has
caused stains and discoloration of system components. Such areas are
a breeding site for bacteria, mold and fungi. Stain removal prevents
excessive microbial contamination. This normally confined to localized
areas in the system.
Level
3
Sanitization removes all matter listed in levels 1 and 2 plus
all microbial bacteria, mold and fungus to an acceptable microscopic
level. This level is recommended for systems in which microbial contamination
has been detected by a certified hygienist.
Decontamination
and Treatment of Complete HVAC Systems
Contamination builds up over time in air systems. Heat and moisture
are introduced into air ducts both in the heating and cooling season
which acts as an incubator (causing germs, fungi, bacteria and dust
mites to grow).
Several
sick buildings have been found to have contaminated air systems. Most
duct cleaning techniques involve vacuuming as far as can be reached
into ducts. AWS specialists use manual entry to effectively reach
and clean hard to get to areas within your ducts and HVAC system.
Once
the source removal operation is completed the duct system is sanitized
to reduce microbial contamination.
AWS
Vacuum equipment feature high efficiency HEPA, EMI and double filtering
systems available at 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns.
